

Sakthy is a chartered civil engineer with experience in the design and construction of infrastructure. She was appointed as a President's Apprentice in the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) for 2013 - 2014, during which time she teamed up to create 'Croydon Construkt' with the support of the ICE. Currently, she is on the Inspirations Panel for the ICE (promoting engineering careers), is an ICE schools ambassador, as well as a member of her local ICE branch committee. She is now also undertaking PhD research on the remote monitoring of infrastructure using satellites at the University of Cambridge. Sakthy has been named on the Forbes Europe 30 Under 30 List and is one of the Top 30 Under the Age of 30 in manufacturing and engineering as part of the “Make it in Great Britain” campaign by the UK Government Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). She has lived and worked internationally in the UK, Canada, Peru and Spain, and is currently providing a voice for trends and issues in engineering as a guest blogger for the Huffington Post. Sakthy enjoys working with young people in a variety of roles ranging from mentoring to running youth club sessions to developing educational materials for schools and university students.
